Windows XP won’t recognize USB devices Toshiba Satellite A105

Won’t Recognize USB devices Toshiba Satellite A105. The Toshiba would not recognize or install an ipod, thumbdrive, jumpdrive, printer or any other usb device.
The device manager would show an error of “(code 10) cannot start”
By using DriverMagic I did notice some drivers were out of date and could be upgraded for better performance but the problem I was experiencing has its answer detailed below:
The problem stemmed from the BIOS being too old - compared to - Windows XP service pack 2 (sp2) and the recent updates to the system. After upgrading to ACPI BIOS 1.9 everything started to work again.
NOTE: If you upgrade to Vista you will need a 2.x BIOS version.
