Three Habits to Protect You from Spyware!
Protecting personal information from spyware requires above all a change of behaviour from the user’s perspective. This article explores three powerful habits, which users can develop in order to protect their persoanl information from spyware threats.
Adware Vs Spyware – Adware means software which plays, displays or download advertisements on your computer automatically. Some adware are designed to steal and share user information with third parties without the user’s knowledge or consent. Everyone should learn how to block spyware, because spyware can help third parties steal important information about us.

Habit No 1 - Avoid Freeware. Free content (song, movies, document etc) will always be tempting for many users who see them as a bargain. In reality though, you may be getting more than you bargained for when you use freeware or peer to peer software. Unbeknown to many users, downloading software such as these, may also install adware on their computer.
Prudence always work to the users advantage in the long run and with this in mind, users should only download freeware from trusted sources only.
Habit No 2 - Ignore Pop Ups. Like many, you may have come across popup ads, clicked on them and unknowingly opened up your computer to spyware and adware threats. Popup blocker software are useful in this context, and the good news is, that some of them are even free, like those in the MSN and Google toolbar which will keep popups at bay whilst you browse.
A disadvantage with these programs is that they cannot deal with the programs which are already installed on the users’ computer and create a false sense of security.

Habit No 3 - Be sure of what you install -You may be wondering also how you even exposed your computer to spyware threats in the first place. However surprising this may seem, even routine tasks can increases the risk of intrusion in your computer. For example, you may be visting an internet site and be targeted with a dialogue box which may require a decision to install a piece of software. You may be tempted to just click “OK” or “YES” without a second thought and unknowingly install adware or spyware programs as a result. It is a sad fact of the internet today that some programs or files cannot be downloaded unless spyware end up on your hard disk as well. We hope that the next time you think of your options on how to block spyware, you will consciously avoid any suspicious downloads. A simple principle to follow is not to download any software, if you do not know their purpose. It pays to be cautious with new and unfamiliar sites and not to accept any download unless you understand fully its purpose.
